Roselle are the seeds of a perennial herb that is widely cultivated for its tart, lemony leaves.

Easy to grow and can be planted in a sunny or partially shaded area with well-draining soil. They should be sown directly into the soil in early spring, and will germinate in 7-14 days.

Roselle is our Favorite plant on the farm! It grows into a bush that will get quite lanky if not trimmed frequently. The plant is very drought resistant. We rarely ever water them!

The best part of Roselle is the wonderful fruity tea that is made from the Calyx. The beautiful red calyxes are used to make floral tangy teas, chutneys, sauces, syrups, smoothies, jams, pickles, wines, juices, and more. The large leaves can be eaten fresh in salads, cooked like spinach, or used in soups.

Plant seeds 1/4 inch deep in rich soil 3-4 weeks before last average spring frost indoors or direct sow in full sun after last average frost date in at least 75F temperature soil.
